Phobia Clinic – Phobia List H-I

It’s usual to have some fear of many things listed here. Fear of pain, for example, is a natural response. And most people wouldn’t actually choose to undergo a medical procedure. But when a natural fear becomes a phobia, it causes you significant distress. It can affect the way you live every day.

You would probably not choose to have a painful injection. But if you really suffer with needle phobia then you might end up avoiding important medical treatment or tests completely. Some women even avoid getting pregnant.

Most people would choose to feel well rather than feel sick, and would rather not watch someone being sick. But if you have a phobia of vomiting (emetophobia) then you might avoiding travelling, going on holiday, eating out, pubs and bars (because people there may be sick). You might even avoid having a child because you fear morning sickness.

The phobias listed here are severe, irrational fears and phobias which stop you from living life normally They can overtake your life, preoccupy you, and cause inconvenience and upset for you, your family and friends.

What is a phobia?

Every phobia is really just a particular type of anxiety. You feel very strong panic and fear about certain situations or objects. The body responds to this fear by giving you a shot of adrenalin. The symptoms are very similar to panic attacks. These are very unpleasant.

You may well go to great lengths to avoid the thing you have a phobia of and this can really get in the way of living life. The phobia specialists at Manchester Hypnotherapy can help get rid of your phobia for good.
